BACKGROUND:

The Washington trophy hunt was authorized by statute in 1987.  The right to hunt post-mature, trophy quality animals was granted to the highest bidder at a Department of Wildlife organized auction.

The authority for the Washington trophy hunt has only been used once since the department was authorized to conduct it.

SUMMARY:

The Washington trophy hunt is repealed.
