BACKGROUND:
Washington's earliest history as a state was marked by its serving as a source of supplies for the fortune seekers of the Klondike gold rush. Today, Washington continues to offer services to thousands of tourists who pass through to British Columbia, the Yukon Territory, and the state of Alaska.
SUMMARY:
The Legislature directs the Secretary of State, in conjunction with an advisory committee, to coordinate centennial events in 1996, 1997 and 1998 commemorating the Klondike gold rush with the state of Alaska, British Columbia and the Yukon Territory.
