HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 93-4615, by Representative R. Meyers

 

 

            WHEREAS, Trooper James N. Sammons has been a member of the Washington State Patrol for over twenty-five and one-half years; and

            WHEREAS, He was originally hired as a Patrol Cadet to Port Angeles radio in 1967 and commissioned as a trooper in 1968 and assigned to Tacoma; and

            WHEREAS, He has come to be known for his exceptional self-discipline, loyalty, work ethic, and common sense; and

            WHEREAS, His compassion and high moral character have influenced the younger members of the department; and

            WHEREAS, Jim Sammons has worked as a ski instructor and ski bus chaperon with the Peninsula recreational ski school, and assisted middle and high school students who normally would not be able to participate in a learn-to-ski program; and

            WHEREAS, Jim has been involved for the last six years with the Boy Scouts of America attached to the Explorer Program with the Washington State Patrol post, in the Peninsula area; and

            WHEREAS, Jim thoroughly enjoys nature and the great outdoors, horseback riding, and is a valued and respected community leader; and

            WHEREAS, Trooper Sammons is being honored by family and the many friends he has worked with over the years at a retirement celebration tonight;

            NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize and honor the distinguished service of Trooper Sammons and hereby declare and proclaim February 19, 1993, as Trooper James N. Sammons Day, and urge all citizens to join in this observance; and

            BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be immediately transmitted by the Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives to the Speaker of the House of Representatives Pro Tempore Ron Meyers, the Chief of the Washington State Patrol, and Trooper James N. Sammons.
