HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 93-4625, by Representative Forner

 

 

                WHEREAS, It is the policy of the Washington State Legislature to recognize excellence in all fields of endeavor; and

                WHEREAS, The citizens of Washington state exhibited the highest level of excellence in their overwhelming participation in the primary and general elections of 1992; and

                WHEREAS, The citizens of Washington state showed their wholehearted commitment to free democratic processes in electing fellow citizens to represent them in our republican form of government; and

                WHEREAS, The citizens of Washington state demonstrated their remarkable level of knowledge and interest in political affairs by their active involvement in candidate debates, forums, town meetings, and seminars involving races for offices at all levels; and

                WHEREAS, The citizens of Washington state also turned out in higher numbers than ever before with two million three hundred twenty-four thousand nine hundred seven votes cast in the 1992 presidential election, over four hundred thousand more votes than were cast in the 1988 presidential election; and

                WHEREAS, The citizens of Washington state had an impressive eighty-two and six-tenths percent of registered voters voting in the 1992 presidential election; and

                WHEREAS, The citizens of Washington state achieved an astonishing six hundred seventy-three thousand two hundred eighty-two new voter registrations in 1992, over two hundred fourteen thousand more new registrations than in 1988 and almost two hundred thousand more new registrations than the previous three years combined; and

                WHEREAS, These extraordinary accomplishments could not have been achieved without the active participation, support, and encouragement of the many individuals who united behind their candidates and parties, stood up for the ideals they believed were best for America, and sacrificially backed them all the way; and

                WHEREAS, These incredible individual and group achievements of Washington state citizens will always be remembered when looking back on the 1992 presidential election year; and

                WHEREAS, The citizens of Washington state are a source of great pride for the state of Washington;

                NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the State of Washington honor the good citizens of Washington state for their ongoing devotion to responsible government and their lifelong commitment to freedom; and

                BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be immediately transmitted by the Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives to the executive director of each political party in Washington state with a 1992 ballot-qualified presidential candidate.
