Providing for public hospital district chaplains.

          AN ACT Relating to public hospital districts; adding a new section to chapter 70.44 RCW; and providing a contingent effective date.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 70.44 RCW to read as follows:

          Public hospital districts may employ chaplains for their hospitals, health care facilities, and hospice programs.

NEW SECTION. Sec. 2.  This act shall take effect on January 1, 1994, if the proposed amendment to Article I, section 3 of the state Constitution authorizing the legislature to permit public hospital districts to employ chaplains is validly submitted to and is approved and ratified by the voters at the next general election held.  If the proposed amendment is not so approved and ratified, this act is void in its entirety.
