Providing for railroad employee health and sanitation.



          AN ACT Relating to railroad employee health and sanitation; and amending RCW 81.40.095.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

        Sec. 1.  RCW 81.40.095 and 1961 c 14 s 81.40.095 are each amended to read as follows:

          The utilities and transportation commission shall adopt and enforce rules and regulations relating to sanitation and adequate shelter as it affects the health of all railroad employees, including but not limited to railroad trainmen, enginemen, yardmen, maintenance of way employees, highway crossing watchmen, clerical, platform, freight house and express employees.  For the purpose of maintenance and cleaning of running facilities, the commission shall specify terminals to have servicing facilities.

          The commission shall adopt and enforce rules to prohibit individual railroad employees from working alone in the Cascade tunnel as it affects the health of railroad employees, including but not limited to controlling locomotives of trains, helper service locomotives, and maintenance personnel.
