Adopting a formula for transmitting funds for transfer students.

    AN ACT Relating to students transferring to other school districts; adding a new section to chapter 28A.225 RCW; and providing an expiration date.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 28A.225 RCW to read as follows:

    When a school district releases a student under RCW 28A.225.230, the sending school district shall transmit to the receiving district an amount equal to the lesser of:  The amount of the maintenance and operation levy in the sending district for the current year divided by the projected student enrollment for that year or the amount of the maintenance and operation levy in the receiving district for the current year divided by the projected student enrollment for that year.  Payments to the receiving district shall be made on the same schedule that maintenance and operation levy dollars are collected.

NEW SECTION. Sec. 2.  This act shall expire August 31, 1996.
