(DIGEST AS ENACTED)

     Establishes a state-wide jail industries program designed to promote inmate rehabilitation through meaningful work experience and to reduce the costs of incarceration.

     Establishes the state-wide jail industries board of directors and designates its powers and duties.

     Directs the jail industries programs to be augmented by education and training to improve worker literacy and employability skills.

     Requires the use of local advisory groups.
