HB 1645 - DIGEST

(DIGEST AS ENACTED)

     Revises penalty provisions for prohibited actions with regard to initiative and referendum petitions.

     Provides a gross misdemeanor offense for persons who provide or receive consideration for soliciting signatures if any part of the consideration is based upon the numbers of signatures obtained.

     Requires warning labels on the petition documents.

     Establishes reporting requirements of any compensation paid for soliciting signatures.

     Repeals RCW 35.17.320.
