HB 1969 - DIGEST

     Creates opportunities for citizens to engage in full-time, meaningful volunteer service in governmental or private nonprofit agencies or activities.

     Establishes procedures for selection of volunteers.

     Authorizes the volunteers to receive a monthly subsistence allowance and a postservice stipend.

     Provides for medical aid coverage, but prohibits unemployment compensation coverage.

     Makes an appropriation of four hundred sixty-two thousand dollars to carry out the purposes of the act.
