HB 2139-S - DIGEST

(DIGEST OF PROPOSED 1ST SUBSTITUTE)

     Lowers the age for mandatory school attendance from eight to seven years.

     Applies to children who are seven years of age by midnight August 31st.

     Exempts children under eight years of age from standardized achievement tests and annual assessments.

     Takes effect August 31, 1994.
