HB 2329 - DIGEST

 

     Provides that unlawful possession of a firearm by a person committed, voluntarily or involuntarily, for treatment of mental illness is a class C felony.

     Establishes procedures for reinstatement of the right to possess a firearm for persons who were committed, including burden of proof that he or she is not a danger to themselves or others.

     Requires issuing authorities to ascertain whether an applicant has been committed for mental health treatment.

     Increases license fees.
