SB 5406 - DIGEST

     Authorizes the district to be initiated by either resolution of the county legislative authority or by petition of the registered voters.

     Requires a single ballot proposition to include language authorizing the creation of the district and authorizing the district to impose an excise tax.

     Provides for annexation of an adjacent unincorporated area by an existing law enforcement service district.

     Declares that a law enforcement service district may not provide law enforcement services itself, but may contract with a county for the provision of additional levels of enforcement.
