SB 6518 - DIGEST

     Requires the department of licensing to conduct a criminal records check of an applicant for a driver's license to determine if there is a felony conviction or mental incompetency finding in the records.

     Requires the license to be marked with a magnetic code reader to indicate whether or not the holder is authorized to purchase a handgun.

     Prohibits the sale of a handgun to a person with a license containing a magnetic code showing that the licensee is prohibited from such ownership.

     Establishes penalties for a violation of the act.
