EFFECT:  Consistent with federal law, an average $3.00 copayment is implemented for Medicaid recipients receiving the following medical services: prescription drugs, physician visits, eyeglasses, and dental services.  Copayments are not charged for services to children and pregnant women.  Providers may not deny services to clients who are unable to pay the copayment.  The implementation of an average $3.00 copayment is estimated to save a total of $10.1 million, of which $5.1 million is GF-S.

 

FISCAL IMPACT: 

 

Reduces General Fund-State by $5,063,000.

 

Reduces Other Funds by $5,024,000.
