     On page 55, line 5, strike "30,419,000" and insert "36,480,000"

     On page 55, line 9, strike "70,564,000" and insert "76,625,000"

     On page 57, after line 4, insert:

     "(i) $6,061,000 of the general fund-state appropriation is provided solely for programs mandated by the legislature as specified in this sub-section.  The superintendent shall adjust funding, consistent with fiscal notes approved by the office of financial management and the senate and house of representatives fiscal committees, for K-12 programs with appropriations from the general fund-state in Part V of this act with the exception of subsection (iv).  The superintendent will submit a cost estimate of subsection (iv) to the senate and house of representatives fiscal committees by December 1, 1995.  The amount in this subsection is provided to implement duties imposed on school districts by:

     (i) ESHB 1030, an act relating to employment of minors;

     (ii) 2SHB 1078, an act relating to instruction in Braille;

     (iii) SHB 1329, an act relating to food and sanitation safety;      (iv) E2SHB 1417, an act relating to juveniles; 

     (v) SHB 1677, an act relating to requiring school districts to obtain an appraisal before purchasing real property;

     (vi) E2SHB 1941, an act relating to the improvement of reading literacy;

     (vii) E2SSB 5439, an act relating to revising procedures for non-offender at-risk youth and their families; and

     (viii) SB 5642, an act relating to international exchange student and teacher program in public schools."


 

 

 

 

EFFECT:  Provides funding for legislative mandates impacting school district operational costs.


 

 

 

FISCAL IMPACT: 

 

Increases General Fund-State by $6,061,000.
