     On page 5, line 34, strike "class C felony" and insert "((class C felony)) gross misdemeanor"

     On page 5, line 35, after "9A.20.021." insert "A second or subsequent offense by an owner under this section is a class C felony."

     On page 6, line 4, strike "class C felony" and insert "((class C felony)) gross misdemeanor"

     On page 6, line 5, after "9A.20.021." insert "A second or subsequent offense by an owner under this section is a class C felony."


 

 

 

EFFECT:  Reduces two class C felonies associated with the dangerous dog law to gross misdemeanors for a first offense.  These crimes involve:  (1) A dog that is registered or supposed to be registered as dangerous that attacks or bites a person or a domestic animal;  and (2) Any dog that aggressively attacks and causes severe injury or death of any human.
