     On page 7, after line 31, insert the following:

     "(3)  Before a charter school that is approved by the state board for charter schools may receive state and local funds, the voters in the school district in which the charter school is located must approve the funding for charter school.  The school district shall take the necessary steps to ask voters at the next special or general election whether or not state and local funds should be used for the charter school.  If a majority of three-fifths of the voters voting on the proposition vote to approve the use of state and local funds, such funds shall be provided.  If less than three-fifths of the voters voting on the proposition vote to approve the proposition, state and local funds shall not be allocated for the charter school."

EFFECT:  Requires voters to approve funding of charter schools approved by the State Board for Charter Schools.  60% of the voters must approve the funding.
