    On page 1, beginning on line 22 of the amendment, after "Sec. 2." strike the remainder of the section and insert "Within thirty days of the certification of an election authorizing the establishment of the office of county ombudsperson or office of people's advocate, the county legislative authority shall appoint a person to fill the office.  The term of office shall be four years and until his or her successor is appointed and assumes office."

    On page 4, line 15 of the amendment, after "counties" insert "in which the voters have authorized the establishment of an office of county ombudsperson or office of people's advocate"

    On page 4, beginning on line 23 of the amendment, after "is to be" strike the remainder of the section and insert "appointed to serve more than one county, the appointment shall be approved by a majority vote of each county legislative authority."

    Beginning on page 4, after line 28 of the amendment, strike all of section 11

    Renumber the remaining section consecutively and correct any internal references accordingly.

EFFECT:  Makes the office of ombudsperson appointive rather than elective.
