    On page 1, line 5, after "Sec. 1." insert "(1)"

    On page 1, after line 14, insert the following:

    "(2) As an alternative procedure, a ballot proposition shall be submitted to the voters of the county authorizing the establishment of the office of county ombudsperson or office of peoples' advocates, upon petition of the county voters equal to at least eight percent of the voters voting at the last county general election."

EFFECT:  The amendment allows a petition of 8% of the voters voting in the last county general election to require that the establishment of the ombudsperson office be submitted to a vote of the people.
