Background:  The aeronautics account provides funds for the administration of the Department of Transportation's Aviation Division.  It also supports state and local airports and maintenance of state-owned airports.  The aircraft search and rescue, safety, and education account provides funds for the search and rescue of lost and downed aircraft, and air safety and education.  Both are dedicated accounts and roll up into the general fund.  Monies from the accounts are appropriated by the House and Senate Transportation Committees.

 

Summary of Bill:  The aeronautics and the aircraft search and rescue, safety, and education account are moved from the general fund to the transportation fund.

 

Appropriation:  None.

 

Fiscal Note:  Not Requested.

 

Effective Date:  Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.

 

Testimony For:  This bill will make it easier for the department to account for monies in the aeronautics account and the aircraft search and rescue, safety, and education account.  Both are dedicated accounts.
