Title:  An act relating to community public health and safety networks.

 

Brief Description:  Providing for integration and coordination of community public health and safety network programs and existing programs.

Background:  The duties of community public health and safety networks currently include the following:

(1)reviewing and analyzing state and local public health data;

(2)prioritizing risk and protective factors to reduce the likelihood of children and youth being at risk;

(3)developing long-term comprehensive plans to reduce the rate of at-risk children and youth;

(4)distributing funds to local programs in accordance with local priorities;

(5)complying with outcome-based standards;

(6)cooperating with local health departments and boards to provide data and determine outcomes of programs;

(7)coordinating efforts with anti-drug use efforts and organizations.

 

Summary of Bill:  Community networks are given additional duties.  The networks must gather and review information on outcomes achieved by existing local programs that provide services to at-risk children and youth.  Networks are also required to provide for integration of successful existing programs into their comprehensive plans.

 

Appropriation:  None.

 

Fiscal Note:  Requested.

 

Effective Date:  Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
