Title:  An act relating to punch board or pull‑tab devices operated in establishments frequented by children.

 

Brief Description:  Requiring punch board or pull‑tab devices to be placed out of the direct sight of children.

Background:  Certain establishments engaging in the sale of food and drink are permitted to utilize punch boards and pull-tabs as a commercial stimulant to such sales.  Bowling alleys and other establishments often have pull-tabs or punch boards in common view of all patrons.  As a result, minors frequenting these establishments can easily view these devices.  The Gambling Commission does not currently regulate the placement of pull-tabs and punch boards within licensed establishments.

 

Summary of Bill:  Punch board and pull-tab devices operated in establishments frequented by minors must be placed out of the direct sight of children. 

 

Appropriation:  None.

 

Fiscal Note:  Requested on January 31, 1995.

 

Effective Date:  Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
