Title:  An act relating to professional baseball.

 

Brief Description:  Limiting advertising and use of public facilities for playing of professional baseball.

Background:  Major league baseball is currently experiencing labor difficulties.

 

Summary of Bill: It is a misdemeanor to advertise that a professional baseball team is participating in major league baseball unless 75 percent of the team's players were members of a major league baseball team on August 12 of the previous year.  Vendors of advertising space are not subject to prosecution under this section.

 

A multipurpose sports stadium cannot be used for major league baseball games if more than 25 percent of the participating players were not paid professional baseball players during the previous years.

 

Appropriation:  None.

Effective Date:  Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
