Background: Under current law, local governments are authorized to impose a tax of up to 5 percent on the gross receipts generated by punchboards and pulltabs.
Summary of Bill: Local governments are authorized to impose a tax of up to 10 percent on the net proceeds generated by punchboards and pulltabs. Net proceeds are determined by subtracting from the gross receipts the cost of prizes paid out.
Appropriation: None.
Fiscal Note: Requested on February 16, 1995.
Effective Date: Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
