Title:  An act relating to a capital appropriation for a Shoreline regional economic development center.

Background:  In 1995, the newly incorporated city of Shoreline, the Shoreline Chamber of Commerce and Shoreline Community College formed a partnership for the purpose of establishing a regional economic development center in the city of Shoreline.  The proposed center will provide a variety of services including economic development assistance, workforce training, and regulatory assistance.  The center will serve north King and south Snohomish counties.   

 

It is suggested that state funding is needed to support the establishment of the regional  economic development center. 

 

Summary of Bill:  Findings are made regarding the public/private partnership that is formed between the city of Shoreline, the Shoreline Community College, and the Shoreline Chamber of Commerce.  Findings are also made regarding the partnership's proposal to create a regional economic development center to serve south Snohomish and north King counties.

 

$1.5 million is appropriated from the state building construction account to the Department of Community, Trade, and Economic Development for the purpose of renovating a building for the regional economic development center.
