Creating a manufacturing technology extension system.



    AN ACT Relating to a manufacturing technology extension system; adding a new section to chapter 43.63A RCW; making an appropriation; providing an effective date; and declaring an emergency.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

    NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 43.63A RCW to read as follows:

    In cooperation with recipients of federal technology assistance project grants the department of community, trade, and economic development shall establish a state-wide manufacturing technology extension system to provide state-of-the-art technical assistance to Washington manufacturers.

 

    NEW SECTION.  Sec. 2.  The sum of one million dollars, or as much thereof as may be necessary, is appropriated for the biennium ending June 30, 1997, from the general fund to the department of community, trade, and economic development solely for contracts with recipients of federal technology assistance project grants under section 1 of this act.

 

    NEW SECTION.  Sec. 3.  This act is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, or safety, or support of the state government and its existing public institutions, and shall take effect July 1, 1995.
