Encouraging sales of public real property.



    AN ACT Relating to encouraging sales of public real property; adding a new section to chapter 79.08 RCW; adding a new section to chapter 35.21 RCW; adding a new section to chapter 36.34 RCW; and adding a new section to chapter 53.08 RCW.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

    NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 79.08 RCW to read as follows:

    Except where deed restrictions or other restrictions preclude the sale of publicly owned real property, including trust lands, state agencies are encouraged to sell publicly owned real property that is not in active use to individuals and private entities so that this property will be placed on property tax rolls and put to productive private uses.

    As used in this section, the term "state agencies" means every state board, commission, department, institution of higher education, or office.

 

    NEW SECTION.  Sec. 2.  A new section is added to chapter 35.21 RCW to read as follows:

    Except where precluded by deed restrictions or other restrictions, cities and towns, including code cities, are encouraged to sell city or town real property that is not in active use to individuals and private entities so that this property will be placed on property tax rolls and put to productive private uses.

 

    NEW SECTION.  Sec. 3.  A new section is added to chapter 36.34 RCW to read as follows:

    Except where precluded by deed restrictions or other restrictions, counties are encouraged to sell county real property that is not in active use to individuals and private entities so that this property will be placed on property tax rolls and put to productive private uses.

 

    NEW SECTION.  Sec. 4.  A new section is added to chapter 53.08 RCW to read as follows:

    Except where precluded by deed restrictions or other restrictions, port districts are encouraged to sell port district real property that is not in active use to individuals and private entities so that this property will be placed on property tax rolls and put to productive private uses.
