Outlawing use of prisoner labor in a political campaign.



    AN ACT Relating to the use of prison labor in political campaigns; adding a new section to chapter 9.91 RCW; and prescribing penalties.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

    NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 9.91 RCW to read as follows:

    (1) It is a crime for a person knowingly to use or cause to be used the labor of an inmate of a local or state correctional facility to promote or assist a political campaign.

    (2) Using inmate labor to promote or assist a political campaign is a gross misdemeanor.
