Disclosing use of paid signature gatherers.



     AN ACT Relating to the voters' pamphlet; and adding a new section to chapter 29.81 RCW.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

     NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 29.81 RCW to read as follows:

     If consideration was provided for soliciting or procuring signatures on a state measure, the following statement:

 

        "PAID SIGNATURE GATHERERS WERE USED TO SOLICIT VOTERS' SIGNATURES"

 

must be included in the voters' pamphlet immediately after the legal identification of the measure at the following three locations:  (1) The table of contents; (2) the first two opposing pages relating to the measure; and (3) before the full text of the measure.  The statement must be in bold-faced, twenty-point type at the first two opposing pages relating to the measure and before the full text of the measure.
