Restricting campaigning by entities that receive public funds.



     AN ACT Relating to campaigning by entities receiving public funds; and adding a new section to chapter 42.17 RCW.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

     NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 42.17 RCW to read as follows:

     Any professional association or organization or other entity of any kind that derives more than twenty-five percent of its income from dues or assessments paid with public funds is prohibited from providing any financial support or providing use of facilities for or against any ballot proposition or candidate for public office.  "Facilities" include, but are not limited to, use of stationery, postage, machines, and equipment, use of employees or volunteers during working hours, vehicles, office space, publications of the association or organization, and clientele lists of persons served by the association or organization.
