Prohibiting the department of labor and industries from requiring employers to compensate employees for usual and customary wearing apparel.



     AN ACT Relating to prohibiting the department of labor and industries from requiring employers to compensate employees for usual and customary wearing apparel; and adding a new section to chapter 49.12 RCW.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

     NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 49.12 RCW to read as follows:

     The department may not adopt rules that require employers to compensate employees for the cost of usual and customary wearing apparel when that apparel is requested by the employer to be worn during the course of employment.  Usual and customary wearing apparel includes apparel that is required to be black or white.
