Limiting the number of bills a legislator may introduce at public cost.



     AN ACT Relating to legislative bill introductions; and adding a new section to chapter 44.04 RCW.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

     NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 44.04 RCW to read as follows:

     (1) Except as provided in subsection (2) of this section, each legislator may introduce three bills in each regular session of the legislature at public cost.  After the legislator has introduced three bills, the legislator shall pay the cost of printing and any other associated costs for additional bill introductions.

     (2) Chairs of standing committees may sponsor legislation requested by departments of state government in addition to the three bills permitted in subsection (1) of this section.
