Exempting food storage facilities from building code requirements relating to ammonia usage.



    AN ACT Relating to fruit and vegetable storage; and adding a new section to chapter 19.27 RCW.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

    NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 19.27 RCW to read as follows:

    (1) Cold storage warehouses and controlled atmosphere storage warehouses used to store fruit or vegetables are not required to comply with any requirements of the state building code or any local amendments thereto that require the installation of ammonia scrubbers or dispersal tanks.

    (2) The building code council shall adopt rules consistent with this section.
