AN ACT Relating to the state board of education office staff; and amending RCW 28A.305.110.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:
Sec. 1. RCW 28A.305.110 and 1990 c 33 s 265 are each amended to read as follows:
The
state board of education shall appoint ((some person to be ex officio
secretary of said board who shall not be entitled to a vote in its proceedings))
or employ an executive director who shall also serve as secretary of the
board. The state board of education shall also appoint or employ other state
board office assistants and clerical persons to perform duties in support of
the activities of the state board and such other duties including duties
involving supervision over matters pertaining to the public schools as the
superintendent of public instruction may delegate to the state board. The
secretary shall keep a correct record of board proceedings((, which shall be
kept in the office of the superintendent of public instruction. He or she
shall also)) and, upon request, furnish to interested school
officials a copy of such proceedings. The executive director and his or her
confidential secretary are exempt from civil service provisions pursuant to RCW
41.06.070(1)(h)(ii).
