HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 95-4676, by Representatives Romero, Horn, Mulliken, Lambert, Ballasiotes, Pelesky, Chandler, Foreman, Dyer, Lisk, Huff, K. Schmidt, Brumsickle, Van Luven, Campbell, Smith, Crouse, Casada, Koster, B. Thomas, Buck, Dellwo, Ogden, Carrell, Wolfe, Valle, R. Fisher, Morris, Rust, Thibaudeau, Sommers, Appelwick, Sheldon, Ballard, L. Thomas, Robertson and Stevens

 

     WHEREAS, It is the policy of the Washington State House of Representatives to recognize excellence in all fields of endeavor; and

     WHEREAS, Gene Meridieth has served the citizens of the state of Washington with distinction for twenty-four years; and

     WHEREAS, Gene began his public service on January 10, 1971, as a driver for the House of Representatives and has been promoted to numerous positions throughout his years of service, including Assistant Sergeant at Arms in 1977, a security guard for the Legislative Building in 1980, and has delivered outstanding service as a senior guard in the security office of the John L. O'Brien Building since 1992; and

     WHEREAS, Gene has worked for no less than nine different Speakers of the House of Representatives and nine different Chief Clerks; and

     WHEREAS, Gene has distinguished himself as a loyal and hard working employee of the House of Representatives; and

     WHEREAS, The members and staff of the House of Representatives look forward to the book Gene plans to write on his countless positive experiences in the twenty-four years of his life that he has dedicated to the House of Representatives; and

     WHEREAS, Gene also plans to continue his commitment to public service as a Tumwater Parks Commissioner; and

     WHEREAS, Gene has announced he will be retiring from state service on April 30, 1995;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize and honor Gene Meridieth for his many years of service and his outstanding contribution to this institution and to the state of Washington; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives extend to Gene a sincere "thank you" along with wishes for many years of happiness; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLED, That copies of this resolution be immediately transmitted by the Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives to Gene Meridieth and to his wife of thirty-three years, Edith Meridieth.
