HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 96-4735, by Representatives Foreman, Pelesky and Chandler

 

     WHEREAS, It is the policy of the Washington State Legislature to recognize and honor excellence in service and contribution to this great state of Washington; and

     WHEREAS, The Apple Blossom Festival celebrates the very best of Eastern Washington and the Wenatchee Valley region as well as neighboring and surrounding communities; and

     WHEREAS, Each year there are selected those young women who will serve as the ambassadors and representatives of this great region of Eastern Washington and the Wenatchee Valley and surrounding communities as the Princesses and Queen of the Apple Blossom Festival; and

     WHEREAS, Sommer Lacy has been selected to represent her community and the great state of Washington as a 1996 Apple Blossom Princess, in part due to her accomplishments and contributions to the community including scholastic, academic, and extracurricular activities at Eastmont High School, where she serves as ASB Secretary, Key Club Lt. Governor, Girl's State Delegate, High Five role model, EHS Cultural Awareness Chairperson, National Honor Society Scholar, Pep Club, 3 years Varsity Tennis letters, 2 years Cross Country letters, and Wenatchee Exchange Club October Youth; and

     WHEREAS, Allison Lynn has also been selected to represent her community and the great state of Washington as a 1996 Apple Blossom Princess, also in part due to accomplishments and contributions to the community including scholastic, academic, and extracurricular activities at Eastmont High School, where she is active in the Pep Club, Key Club, Jazz Band, Golf, Swimming, Cross-Country, Bible Club, and the Annual Staff; and

     WHEREAS, Jill Vanderhoff has been selected to represent her community and the great state of Washington as the 1996 Apple Blossom Queen due in part to her accomplishments and contributions to the community including scholastic, academic, and extracurricular activities at Eastmont High School, where she is a member of the Spirit Club, the Earth Club, a member of the girl's quartet The Hy-tones, soprano section leader in the Choir, and is the team captain on the Soccer Team;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor the highest level of excellence and community service demonstrated by those indicated herein; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives further commend these young women for the outstanding example they have set for others; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be immediately transmitted by the Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives to those individuals mentioned and indicated herewith.
