AN ACT Relating to the issuance of a permit and a variance by the department of labor and industries upon finding that the terms of employment are sufficient to protect the health, safety, and welfare of employed minors; amending RCW 49.12.124; and repealing RCW 26.28.060.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:
Sec. 1. RCW 49.12.124 and 1994 c 62 s 2 are each amended to read as follows:
For all ((minors))
employed ((as actors or performers in film, video, audio, or theatrical
productions)) minors, the department shall issue a permit under RCW
49.12.121 and a variance under RCW 49.12.105 upon finding that the terms of the
employment sufficiently protect the minor's health, safety, and welfare. The
findings shall be based on information provided to the department including,
but not limited to, the minor's working conditions and planned work schedule,
adult supervision of the minor, and any planned educational programs.
NEW SECTION. Sec. 2. RCW 26.28.060 and 1994 c 62 s 1, 1973 1st ex.s. c 154 s 39, & 1909 c 249 s 195 are each repealed.
