Authorizing the fish and wildlife commission to adopt rules requiring hunters to wear fluorescent hunter orange material.



    AN ACT Relating to hunter safety; adding a new section to chapter 77.12 RCW; and creating a new section.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

    NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  The legislature finds that:

    (1) Public safety is a primary responsibility for state government;

    (2) No state entity currently has adequate authority to address hunter safety; and

    (3) Those responsible for establishing the time, place, and manner for hunting activities are most capable of adequately addressing hunter safety concerns.

 

    NEW SECTION.  Sec. 2.  A new section is added to chapter 77.12 RCW to read as follows:

    For the purposes of hunter safety, the fish and wildlife commission may adopt rules requiring persons hunting wildlife to wear fluorescent hunter orange material.
