Requiring that bail or bond be posted by persons who have previously been convicted of failure to appear at a court proceeding.



    AN ACT Relating to failure to appear at a court proceeding; and adding a new section to chapter 10.01 RCW.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

    NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 10.01 RCW to read as follows:

    A person who, at any time in the previous ten years, has been convicted, or adjudicated as a juvenile, of bail jumping under RCW 9A.76.170, driving while license suspended or revoked due to failure to appear at a requested hearing or violating a written promise to appear in court under RCW 46.20.342(1)(c)(iv), or any other crime involving failure to appear at a court proceeding may not be released on personal recognizance in any proceeding where the judge is authorized to require posting of bail or bond.
