Restricting use of the department of licensing services account.

    AN ACT Relating to the use of the department of licensing service account to replace, update, procure, and expand the number of workstation equipment used in the department of licensing vehicle field system; and amending RCW 46.68.220.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

    Sec. 1.  RCW 46.68.220 and 1992 c 216 s 5 are each amended to read as follows:

    The department of licensing services account is created in the motor vehicle fund.  All receipts from service fees received under RCW 46.01.140(4)(b) shall be deposited into the account.  Moneys in the account may be spent only after appropriation.  Expenditures from the account may be used only for ((information and service delivery systems for the department)) replacing vehicle field system equipment used in providing vehicle/vessel licensing services to the public, expanding the number of workstations in the vehicle field system used in providing vehicle/vessel licensing services to the public, procuring new equipment in the vehicle field system used in providing vehicle/vessel licensing services to the public due to damage or disaster, and for reimbursement of county licensing activities.  These funds shall not supplant existing state funds for vehicle field system equipment or operations.
