Requiring state agencies to pay for an employee's special license or certification required for performance of official duties.

    AN ACT Relating to public employees' licenses and certifications; and adding a new section to chapter 43.03 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 43.03 RCW to read as follows:

    If an agency of the state of Washington requires an employee to hold a special license or certification, including but not limited to such fees as dues to belong to the Washington state bar association, in furtherance of the performance of the employee's official duties, the agency shall be responsible for any fee or charge associated with obtaining or maintaining the license or certification.
