Restricting participation and funding for international parks.



    AN ACT Relating to international parks; creating a new section; and declaring an emergency.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

    NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  (1) State agencies and local governments may not participate in the planning or funding of any north cascades international park and special management area proposal unless the legislature enacts legislation specifically authorizing participation and the governor approves such legislation.

    (2) No state agency or local government funds, facilities, or personnel may be used to support an international park proposal until authorized by law as stated in subsection (1) of this section.

 

    NEW SECTION.  Sec. 2.  This act is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, or safety, or support of the state government and its existing public institutions, and shall take effect immediately.
