Requiring acceptance of standardized hospital credentials by health care services providers.

    AN ACT Relating to the acceptance of accreditation of hospitals; adding a new section to chapter 41.05 RCW; adding a new section to chapter 48.20 RCW; adding a new section to chapter 48.21 RCW; adding a new section to chapter 48.44 RCW; adding a new section to chapter 48.46 RCW; adding a new section to chapter 70.47 RCW; and adding a new section to chapter 74.09 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 41.05 RCW to read as follows:

    The accreditation of a hospital that is certified by either the federal medicare program or the joint commission on accreditation of health care organizations must be accepted by state-purchased health care.

NEW SECTION. Sec. 2.  A new section is added to chapter 48.20 RCW to read as follows:

    The accreditation of a hospital that is certified by either the federal medicare program or the joint commission on accreditation of health care organizations must be accepted by an insurer offering to any individual a health benefit plan.

NEW SECTION. Sec. 3.  A new section is added to chapter 48.21 RCW to read as follows:

    The accreditation of a hospital that is certified by either the federal medicare program or the joint commission on accreditation of health care organizations must be accepted for the provision of health care services by a group disability insurance contract or blanket disability insurance contract.

NEW SECTION. Sec. 4.  A new section is added to chapter 48.44 RCW to read as follows:

    The accreditation of a hospital that is certified by either the federal medicare program or the joint commission on accreditation of health care organizations must be accepted by a health service contractor.

NEW SECTION. Sec. 5.  A new section is added to chapter 48.46 RCW to read as follows:

    The accreditation of a hospital that is certified by either the federal medicare program or the joint commission on accreditation of health care organizations must be accepted by a health maintenance organization.

NEW SECTION. Sec. 6.  A new section is added to chapter 70.47 RCW to read as follows:

    The accreditation of a hospital that is certified by either the federal medicare program or the joint commission on accreditation of health care organizations must be accepted by the plan.

NEW SECTION. Sec. 7.  A new section is added to chapter 74.09 RCW to read as follows:

    The accreditation of a hospital that is certified by either the federal medicare program or the joint commission on accreditation of health care organizations must be accepted for the provision of medical care services.
