Increasing the minimum hourly wage for employees over eighteen years of age.



    AN ACT Relating to the minimum hourly wage which employers shall pay employees who have reached the age of eighteen years; amending RCW 49.46.020; and providing an effective date.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

    Sec. 1.  RCW 49.46.020 and 1993 c 309 s 1 are each amended to read as follows:

    (1) Every employer shall pay to each of his or her employees who has reached the age of eighteen years wages at a rate of not less than ((four)) five dollars and ((ninety)) thirty cents per hour.

    (2) The director shall by regulation establish the minimum wage for employees under the age of eighteen years.

 

    NEW SECTION.  Sec. 2.  This act shall take effect January 1, 1997.
