HB 1078 - DIGEST

(SUBSTITUTED FOR - SEE 2ND SUB)

     Declares that students may receive instruction in Braille reading and writing as part of their individualized education program.

     Requires the instruction to be sufficient to enable the student to communicate effectively at a level commensurate with the student's sighted peers.

     Requires special education teachers responsible for the education of visually impaired children to demonstrate competency in reading and writing Braille.
