HB 1290 - DIGEST

     Declares that state taxpayers should not be responsible for the costs of defending private structures located in or near forested areas if the county has not adopted and enforced adequate fire protection standards.

     Requires the adoption of fire protection standards and application of the standards in issuing building permits.

     Establishes liability requirements for a failure to comply with the standards.
