HB 1568 - DIGEST

     Makes technical revisions to the procedural statutes relating to domestic violence litigations.

     Directs the criminal justice training commission to implement by January 1, 1997, a course of instruction for the training of law enforcement officers in the handling of domestic violence complaints.

     Directs the commission to also develop a written model policy and procedures regarding misdemeanor and felony prosecution of domestic violence cases.

     Revises provisions for restraining orders and protection orders.

     Provides a misdemeanor penalty for violation of restraining orders.

     Revises provisions for petitions for a name change.
