HB 1589 - DIGEST

(SUBSTITUTED FOR - SEE 1ST SUB)

     Requires hospitals to submit hospital financial and patient discharge information in conformance with a uniform reporting system established by the department.

     Declares that health care reform should not be pursued at the expense of the high quality of health services available to the citizens of the state.

     Requires the development and implementation of a uniform quality assurance program for use by all public and private health plans and health care providers and facilities.

     Forms an interagency group for coordination and consultation on quality assurance activities.

     Appoints a five member health services effectiveness committee.

     Repeals RCW 70.170.100, 70.170.110, 70.170.120, 70.170.130, and 70.170.140.
