     Deletes the exemption from background checks provided for relatives in RCW 74.15.030 and 13.34.130.

     Requires background checks no later than twenty-four hours after placement of the child with the relative. 

     Provides that prior to placing the child with an adult extended family member or a responsible adult, the officer shall conduct a criminal background check of the adult.

     Requires that, if the officer has reasonable cause to believe that the safety or welfare of the child would be jeopardized by placing the child with the adult, the officer shall take the child to a designated crisis residential center facility.
